Fundraising event to take place in Las Vegas
NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2023 – The second annual Playmakers Classic presented by Fanatics will take place in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The Major League Baseball Players Trust’s signature fundraising event supports the organization’s youth development, disaster relief and other charitable initiatives
“The Playmakers Classic is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the power of Player advocacy in advancing important causes,” said Major League Baseball Players Trust Director Amy Hever. “We are excited to bring the experience of this fundraising event to Las Vegas and connect with old and new partners whose support allows us to expand the reach and impact that we have in the areas that we support.”
At this year’s event, the Players Trust will reveal the winner of the Philanthropist of the Year Award. This award is the culmination of the organization’s year-long recognition program highlighting the individual Players who demonstrate an altruistic spirit and positive social impact beyond the diamond.
A growing list of current and former MLB Players will be in attendance, including MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark, Bobby Bonilla, Chris Capuano, Will Benson, Lucas Gilbreath, Brent Suter, Josh Thole, Mike Myers, Rick Helling, Phil Bradley, Chris Iannetta, Steve Rogers, Andrew Miller, and Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, to name a few.
The evening will feature interactive experiences, food offerings, and wine and tequila tastings. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in golf competitions, casino games, and silent auctions. Entertainment will be provided by Goo Goo Dolls lead singer Johnny Rzeznik, country artist and current Minor League Player Luke Berryhill, and DJ Co1, the official DJ of the Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV football.
In addition to Fanatics as presenting sponsor, other lead sponsors and underwriters include iCG Payment Solutions, HPS Investment Partners, Winston & Strawn LLP, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and MGM.
Also in attendance will be several beneficiaries of the Players Trust, including Pitch In For Baseball & Softball, Learn Fresh and students who participated in the 2023 STEM League program, and representatives from Clark County (Las Vegas) Public Schools.
For over 25 years, Players have been committed to making a difference by contributing their funding, time, talent and passion to help communities in need and encouraging others to get involved. Through the Players Trust, Players have supported a wide range of programs, granting tens of millions of dollars to make a positive impact on the lives of fans and youth organizations.
