Players Trust to host Playmakers Classic presented by Fanatics

Inaugural fundraising event to take place in Scottsdale, Ariz.

NEW YORK, Oct. 13 – The Major League Baseball Players Trust today announced the 2022 Playmakers Classic presented by Fanatics, an inaugural fundraising event in support of the organization’s youth development, disaster relief and other charitable initiatives.

The event is also supported by the Major League Baseball Players Association, MLB Players, Inc., and a growing list of key sponsors, business partners and individuals. In addition to Fanatics as a presenting sponsor, other sponsors include iCheckGateway, ImmediaStudios, SwingJuice and MJ Corporate Sales. The event will take place at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Monday, Nov. 28.

The Playmakers Classic will include wine and whiskey tastings, golf competitions, casino games, and a silent auction. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive experiences and items including a private lunch with Hall-of-Fame player Dave Winfield and an All-Star experience package for next year’s midsummer classic in Seattle. Entertainment will be provided throughout the night, including a musical performance by ACM award winner and multiplatinum recording artist Brett Young, emcee duties by Phoenix Suns in-arena host “Weezy” and Valley native Roland “DJ Supa C” Matthews.

A growing list of current and former MLB Players will be in attendance, including Bobby Bonilla, MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark, Chris Capuano, Hunter Greene, Andrew Miller, Jeffrey Hammonds and Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, to name a few.

Also in attendance will be several beneficiaries of the Players Trust, including the De La Torre-Tena family from Globe, Arizona, who lost their home last year as a result of multiple wildfires and flooding, as well as Aaiden Musgrove and Aaron Musgrove Jr., middle school students from Phoenix. The Musgroves are the winners of the 2022 inaugural summer championship of MLB Players STEM League, a baseball-inspired math program launched this year in partnership with the nonprofit, Learn Fresh.

“The Playmakers Classic will recognize the impact the Players Trust programs have had over the past season and year, as well as generate support for the highly anticipated expansion of our work,” said Major League Baseball Players Trust Director Amy Hever. “This is our opportunity to demonstrate our relentless pursuit of greater impact through partnerships and collaborative work that harnesses the combined talents and passions of Players, philanthropists, and social impact leaders.”

For over 25 years, Players have been committed to making a difference by contributing their funding, time, talent and passion to help communities in need and encouraging others to get involved. Through the Players Trust, Players have supported a wide range of programs, granting tens of millions of dollars to make a positive impact on the lives of fans and youth organizations.

A limited number of sponsorship packages and individual tickets are still available for purchase. To learn more about the Playmakers Classic, including how to make a donation, and sponsorship opportunities, please visit the event page on the Trust website.
