The Players Trust expands its board by appointing four new Trustees

New additions continue the growth of MLBPA’s charitable arm


NEW YORK, September 30 – The Players Trust, the charitable arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association, announced the addition of four distinguished leaders to its Board of Trustees, marking an important milestone as the Trust continues to expand its reach and impact in players’ communities worldwide.


The new board members are Geoff Grenert, former Minor League Player and founder of Sierra Legacy Group; Valeria Galarza, founder of social impact firm ALTA Impact Partners; Chris Madison, partner at Anders CPA; and former star relief pitcher and player leader Andrew Miller, who returns after a previous stint on the board during his playing career.


“We are delighted to expand our volunteer leadership,” said Amy Hever, executive director of the Players Trust. “They bring a range of insights and experience that will further strengthen the Players Trust as it continues to deliver meaningful impact for the causes our players care most about.”


The new Trustees join existing board members Tony Clark, executive director of the MLBPA and former major league player; Marcus Semien, Texas Rangers second baseman and MLBPA player representative; Chris Bassitt, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher and MLBPA player representative; Chris Capuano, director of operations for the MLBPA and former major league pitcher; Javy Vazquez, PA special assistant and former Major League pitcher; and Xavier James, chief operating officer for the MLBPA. Their combined expertise furthers the Trust’s efforts to address critical needs and expand its positive influence in baseball communities across the country.
