MLBPA’s nonprofit organization documents extraordinary efforts benefiting communities in the U.S. and abroad
NEW YORK, June 12 – The Players Trust, the charitable arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association, today released its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of record-setting player engagement and more than $1.3 million invested in programs and causes important to Major and Minor League Players.
Throughout the year, 188 active Major League Players partnered with the Trust on efforts that created tangible impact across the United States and regions including the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Japan, Colombia, and beyond.
“For nearly 30 years, the Players Trust has worked alongside Players to help them drive meaningful change,” said Players Trust Executive Director, Amy Hever. “In 2024, we saw more Players than ever work in partnership with the Trust to further their charitable legacies. They brought leadership, energy, and care to the causes they believe in, creating real and lasting impact.”
The 2024 report places a strong emphasis on the Trust’s support of youth development. Many MLB Players want to give back to the next generation of players and leaders through the game they love--in response to this, the Trust has implemented multiple educational programs and sport clinics that use baseball to connect and inspire tens of thousands of students around the world. Through the MLB Players STEM League, a partnership with the nonprofit Learn Fresh, more than 28,000 middle schoolers sharpened their leadership, teambuilding and math skills using a baseball-themed board game. A new initiative, the Players Exchange, launched in collaboration with Level Up Village, virtually united 690 students from around the world to participate in collaborative challenges that encouraged cross-cultural understanding and creative thinking.
Additionally, Players collaborated with the Trust to invest more than $600,000 in other nonprofit organizations focused on education, health and wellness, disaster relief and recovery, food access and more.
