We thank everyone for making the inaugural Playmakers Classic a success.  Why do we declare this event a success? For one, our Playmakers helped us exceed our goal of generating $250,000 in support, raising a total of more than $330,000 with more than 300 people attending and enjoying the event. Secondly, we introduced over 40 partners to one another – these are leaders and innovators from various business sector, nonprofits and philanthropy – including MLB Players.

These introductions have generated possibilities with action plans.  Action plans on how we can create even more impact in the lives of more people in need – with a particular emphasis on youth as well as families impacted by natural disasters and health crises. Lastly, we highlighted and amplified not only the impact we have made this past year in communities here and abroad, but also provided a glimpse into our future plans. Plans that will bring scale to signature programs and initiatives such as MLB Players STEM League – reaching 10,000 middle age students in the United States, the Caribbean, and other Latin American countries; the Legacy Project connecting youth to largely unknown stories of MLB Players past and present and the life lessons we can all learn from their contributions; and the Fastball Fund, a rapid-response initiative directing resources to those nonprofits that can quickly deploy aid to communities in distress.
